Some moments are worth keeping a secret.
Until suddenly, they're not.
James and Lauren's surprise engagement session at The Ridge at Owl Creek was one of those unforgettable days where the excitement just kept building. With the beautiful grounds and peaceful pond as the backdrop, James had a very important question to ask—and Lauren had no idea what was coming.
And then, by the pond, he asked.
She said yes. 🤍
There is something so special about getting to photograph a moment like this. A surprise proposal holds so much anticipation and emotion all at once—the nerves beforehand, the excitement of the moment itself, and then the joy that follows when you realize you're officially engaged!
But the celebration didn't stop there.
Once the secret was out and Lauren had said yes, we spent time exploring The Ridge at Owl Creek and capturing engagement portraits for James and Lauren right there on the property. It was the perfect way to slow down and soak in the moment after such an exciting surprise.
We captured the romantic portraits, the happy smiles, and all of those little in-between moments that made the session feel like them. Because while beautiful portraits are wonderful, some of my favorite images are often the ones where couples can simply relax, laugh, and enjoy being together.
And that's exactly what I love about engagement sessions.
They don't have to feel like a formal photoshoot. They can be an experience. A chance to celebrate your relationship, have fun together, and create memories during this incredibly exciting season of life.
For James and Lauren, their engagement session will always be connected to the day they began this next chapter together—the day James asked the question, Lauren said yes, and everything changed.
